Cabin Fever 2 Coming to DVD, Blu-ray Feb. 16

A sequel to Eli Roth's cult classic Cabin Fever will be heading straight to DVD and Blu-ray on February 16th, 2010. Titled Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, the flesh-eating virus continues where it left off by finding its way to a high school. I'm sold.

I had no idea a sequel was being made but I'm definitely excited as the first is an excellent mix of campy laughs and gore. If you haven't seen the original Cabin Fever, do yourself a favour and please do so. It's a great movie to watch with a bunch of friends. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Steven King considering sequel to The Shining

Whatever happened to Danny Torrance? Turns out Steven King has been wondering that too.

Last week at the Canon Theatre in Toronto, King surprised an audience by revealing he's been planning a sequel to one of his most popular novels, The Shining. He even talked a bit about the plot. Danny, now 40, works at a hospice for the terminally ill where he uses his powers to help the dying 'pass on' or something along those lines. What will King call this new story? Doctor Sleep.

Perhaps to keep people guessing, King mentioned he wasn't completely committed to writing the new novel. Now, even if this novel does see the light of day, what are the chances of it becoming a film? Let alone one that can do the original justice? Would you even want a sequel to Kubrick's The Shining? I'm not sure I would. Regardless, though, I'm still intrigued by what will come of this.

Recommended: Eden Lake (2008)

This British hoodlum horror flick about a young couple's getaway to a serene-yet-eery locale and subsequent encounter with some very realistically portrayed chavs will have you cringing numerous times and yelling out at the screen as if the characters could hear your criticisms and warnings (which isn't a bad thing).

Just like it did to its protagonists, Eden Lake will break you down and leave you low come the credits. If you don't mind having a wet(bloody?) towel thrown on your mood, give this dark, brutal film a watch. Highly recommended.
